How Did I Learn How to Write?
I learned how to write as just a youngster. I remember my mom and dad teaching me how to write my name. I was so excited to write because I saw my older brother, Gatlan writing and I thought it was so cool. I could not wait tell I could write just like my older brother.
As life went on so did the writing. Life gets harder and harder so does writing. As school continued on I learned how to write more complete sentences with more description. As years go by I learn that I am not learning as fast as the others in my class are and how I wished I could be the top of my class in writing. But I never could get there. The reason for this I think is because I was the “Lazy Kid” not really caring much for elementary. I just did the bare minimum to get by. I was more worried about being the class clown than actually learning how to write like everyone else.
As school went on I learned that I write a lot better when there is peace and quite. I really have a hard time concentrating when there is a lot of noise and other stuff going on around me. I write my paper all at once so I do not have to worry about it anymore. I prefer to hang out and do more exciting things than writing.
There are many forms of writing, but my favorite way is by texting. It is quick and easy. I love how you are able to communicate with someone instantly. Plus it does not matter if you miss spell words and I also like how you are able to abbreviate words so you do not have to completely write your thoughts out. Texting is a new generation style of writing which is really great. Now days everyone has a cell phone whether their age be 10 or clear up to the age just before you die. Also, when you text it does not matter if you have the correct punctuation or grammar, it is just really quick and easy.
Many poor writers do not know how to give papers some deep thought. They just dive into the paper and hope for the best. They do not write down some notes, write a rough draft, and look it over. Also, many poor writers have a lack of vocabulary very much like I do. If I were to categorize my type of writing I would have to say I am a mediocre writer. Not the best but not the worst writer.
Many papers are short and get straight too the point. I think that is a strong point in my writing because I have read things that are long and boring causing me to lose interest really fast. But on the other hand, because my writing gets straight too the point I think I also drop details that should be there. I do not position them in because I think I am too lazy to actually make the effort to write them in my paper. This would help my voice as a writer and make me sound more sophisticated.
I think I have two kinds of voices. Number one, when I write a paper for research or some boring subject like that, I would have a serious kind of writing. Number two, it would be a fun subject where I can write and show the true me.
Writing takes a lot of time and effort. We start at a very young age learning how to write whether that be our name or a 400 page research paper. Writing is a life long learning experience and I will keep writing until the day that I die. Even if it is texting or a journal, I will keep on writing. With out writing, you would go no where in life!
